Brilliant Book Cover Art by John Gall

Japanese Author Haruki Murakami has made an international name for himself as a strikingly original and relentlessly compelling novelist. My first window into his work however, was through the work of another brilliant artist - John Gall. John Gall is the Vice President and Art Director for Vintage / Anchor Books, and it was his fantastic cover design that compelled me to track down a book who's author's name I couldn't remember. I kept going up to the employees of book stores saying, "Do you guys have that book by the Japanese guy with the amazing cover of an upside down bird?"

Thankfully someone eventually knew what I was talking about and I was formally introduced to Murakami's work, my favorite author to date. But I have to admit that more than some of the experience I crave when seeking out one of his novels is the combination of copy on the back cover, teasing me with bits and pieces of Murakami's fantastic imagination, and the equally unique and off-beat cover designs by John Gall.

I hope you enjoy his work as much as I do. These first few are some of my favorite designs he's done for Japanese Author, Haruki Murakami.

When we get to think about classic design, one of the things that come to mind are those awesome, vintage Penguin and Pelican book cover designs. There are tons of them out there, but I've made a brief selection of some pretty cool ones.

Beautiful Social Media "Book Covers"

What if social media websites were books? What would their covers look like? Would it be minimalist? Would it be vintage-like? There might be tons of answers to my questions, but I really enjoy Stéphane Massa-Bidal's take.

He came up with covers for 10 of the most famous social sites, like facebook, twitter, myspace, along with others. His designs are really awesome! I hope you enjoy this, and don't forget to pay him a visit. Cheers! ;)

Beautiful Book Covers by Dan dos Santos

Illustrating book covers gotta be one awesome job. The cover of a book is its presentation, an image of what's to be found inside, and if represented in a good way, it calls readers. If done by an awesome artist, it calls a post on Abduzeedo.

Daniel dos Santos is that artists that began doodleing in school, and found out his true calling through paint and canvas, and we are glad he did. These are truly some beautiful book covers that show us many other worlds and realities, some fascinating, some scary, but nevertheless, beautiful.
