Amazing Organic & Geometry Paintings

These amazing Organic and Geometry Paintings were done by Tran Nguyen, a Georgia-based artist. Born in Vietnam and raised in the States. She is fascinated with creating visuals that can be used as a psycho-therapeutic support vehicle, treading the mind’s surreal dreamscape. Her paintings are created with a delicate quality using color pencil and thin glazes of acrylic on paper.

Work Process

The goal of my imagery is to visually interpret a story in a way that dramatizes and conveys its vital essence.

When starting an assignment, I thoroughly research every aspect of the subject to determine what the image needs to say to the viewer. Several concerns are raised here such as its mood, focal points, and overall message. From the research proceeds the visual development. Several thumbnails are sketched out to explore the possible compositions, ideas, and symbolisms, to cultivate the best solution to the problem. I keep my thumbnails loose and gestural to maintain focus on the story that is being told.

Once a thumbnail harmonizes, in concept and aesthetics, a final sketch is derived from it -- forms are resolved, lines are tightened, and values are laid where needed. While working on the final sketch, reference photos are collected to accompany the painting phase.

With the final sketch and reference photos as a guide, diluted glazes of acrylics and color pencil are applied to solidify the forms. In this particular painting, creating a dream-like undertone is critical. Care- ful attention is made on the figure’s facial expression and pose to capture its surreal moment within a tangible environment. An appropriate color palette is chosen and details are rendered to yield the end product – a refined visual that complements the particular story.

Most artist are like wine: the more they keep doing their art, the better they get. Audrey Kawasaki it's not an exception, working almost 10 years on fine arts, her artworks are extremely feminine, sexy, mysterious and sometimes even a bit naughty. I huge fan of her and so I decided to make this big collection of her pieces, from the oldest to the newest, so you can see her progress during these years.

The themes in Audrey Kawasaki's work are contradictions within themselves. Her work is both innocent and erotic. Each subject is attractive yet disturbing. Audrey's precise technical style is at once influenced by both manga comics and Art Nouveau. Her sharp graphic imagery is combined with the natural grain of the wood panels she paints on, bringing an unexpected warmth to enigmatic subject matter (Audrey's Website).

The figures she paints are seductive and contain an air of melancholy. They exist in their own sensually esoteric realm, yet at the same time present a sense of accessibility that draws the observer to them. Mike Dutton has been a writer/illustrator most of his life. He completed his first book when he was seven, a stapled mass of dot-matrix printer paper filled with leaping dinosaurs. He once drew the entire Sunday Funnies during class, but none of the jokes were funny. In fact, his teacher found them to be quite rude and his parents were asked to pay a visit. Since then, Mike has gone on to make children's storybook illustrations, comics, coloring books, magazine articles, landscape paintings, video game art, and quite possibly a portrait of your dog. Expressive Paintings of Raffaele Catania

Raffaele Catania is a craftsman and designer living in Chiaramonte Gulfi, Sicily. He likes to create, drawings, sketches and paintings, literally getting his hands dirty. He as done work for a variety of products, from small illustration of a book to an extensive mural painting, a detailed wine label to the preparation of a large stand.

I work very carefully to the different phases of the project, the initial study to completion, through production. I have great attention to detail, I prefer the simplicity, clean lines and a palette full of colors ... many colors. I love the art of cinema and I enjoy writing and directing short films and documentaries, are an unusual filmmaker and jovial, but that's another story ...

Ah ... I really love pizza and some spare time I play tennis, losing almost always :)

Ben Heine is a Belgian painter, illustrator, portraitist, caricaturist and photographer. His galleries are filled with great stuff and he can walk beautifully between several art directions, creating amazing pieces in any way he goes. Ben studied graphic arts - and worked as a graphic creator for 8 years - and sculpture and also has a degree in journalism. Besides all that he also speaks French, English and Dutch fluently, and some bits of Polish, Spanish and Russian. So don't worry about language issues when you decide to get in touch with him. ;)

I really liked his work! The illustrations, digital paintings, photographs... everything is really inspiring. Some photos look like desktop wallpapers landscapes, the paintings are extremely creative and colorful...he simply has several kinds of work, to please multiple tastes. As I made only a brief selection from his work, I really recommend you to check out his flickr gallery or his DA page. Ben has tons of great artworks to show, so take your time and check them out. Surrealist Drawings by Reality-must-die

I have been working on a few designs heavily inspired by the Surrealism, because of that I was looking for some references and visual artists that are influenced by this style as well. Then I stumbled upon Reality-must-die at DeviantArt. I couldn't get much information about him, I know he is from Germany, but I was totally mesmerized by his surrealistic drawings that I had to feature him here on Abduzeedo.

Amazing Paintings from Leonid Afremov

I found the work from Leonid Afremov while I was navigating on deviantART and I have to say that his paintings really got my attention. Leonid Afremov is a Belarusian painter who was born in Vitebsk, in 1955. Coincidentally or not, he was born in the same town as Marc Chagall, the famous artist who also founded the Vitebsk Art School along with Malevich & Kandinsky. Leonid Afremov graduated from Vitebsk Art School in 1978 and is one of the elite members. His painting are often colorful landscapes, cityscapes and figures, and are typically painted using a palette knife and oil paint.

"I tried different techniques during my career, but I especially fell in love with painting with oil and palette knife. Every artwork is the result of long painting process; every canvas is born during the creative search; every painting is full of my inner world. Each of my paintings brings different mood, colors and emotions. I love to express the beauty, harmony and spirit of this world in my paintings. My heart is completely open to art. Each of my artworks reflects my feelings, sensitivity, passion, and the music from my soul. True art is alive and inspired by humanity. I made this brief selection to show you some of Leonid's paintings and I'm sure you will like it. In my opinion his work is AMAZING... his technique, colors and compositions gave me a really good sensation, a feeling of stillness, admiration and piece. Not sure how to explain... but I could admire this images for hours!

Berlin Wall Orignal Paintings Restoration

It has been 20 years now since the fall of the Berlin Wall and therefore the city of Berlin decided to restore the paintings of the wall asking the original artists. I went out there and got really inspired by those amazing abstract paintings and to took some photos to share with you.

The East Side Gallery is a special place, where art has become the expression for a unique point in time of the history of a separated Germany. It is a meeting point that talks about an old Berlin and a new Berlin, a separated and a unified Germany.

Original Paintings: 1990 Restoration: 2009 | If you have the chance to visit it you should definitely do that, not just because of these images I've selected, but there are awesome things you could check out in Berlin as well. Enjoy.

We are always receiving suggestions pointing some great artists and their portfolios, and that is really nice because it gives us the chance to check out some really nice stuff to show here to you. Today we will show the abstract and expressive work of David Platt. David is an artist/designer based in New York who has been creating visual art since 1990. After receiving a BFA in Film & Television from NYU, David concentrated on the creation of digital art, design and animation, eventually forming his own design firm in 2001. When not focusing on his paintings David works as a designer under the name Martian Design.

"In my paintings I attempt to reconcile opposites. I depict a psychological landscape where inner and outer space converge, where creation and destruction are indistinguishable and where micro organisms fuse to become macro organisms ad infinitum. Out of the abstract soup emerges corporeality in all its incarnations, whose forms and contours are undifferentiated, existing for a timeless instant before reintegration and death.

I paint straight from my subconscious onto the canvas, in an attempt to tap into collective imagery and precognitive stimuli.

In 2006, I hurt my arms and had to undergo surgery. During that time I developed the staccato line technique that would eventually become my signature style. At first, the use of line represented the injured nerve that ran the length of my arm, then the bandages that soon followed, then appendages, then individuated organisms, and finally, all things."
