Heymeca is also known as André Meca, a very talented portuguese graphic designer and illustrator. Who's currently a student of Graphic Design and a Freelancer, and on the free time works on his "Make Something Cool Everyday" project which is what we looking at here.

Andre has a very intriguing style, a mix of the old collage with the new school of illustrations, very colorful works with a hint of typography and a retro feel.

Art & Illustrations by Julien Pacaud

When first exposed to the work of Julien Pacaud I immediately took a liking to it on the basis of the illustrator's quirky style, vivid imagination, and his ability to stop the viewer in their tracks with dynamic imagery rich with story and emotion. I enjoy this aspect of his work beyond even, a literal interpretation. Reminiscent of James Rosenquist's work from the 1960's you get the sense that Pacaud is, among other things, a fantastic visual storyteller with a great sense of humor - even if you only see one image out of a set.

Simply put: I find this artist and his work interesting. Interesting in the way that only someone with enormous talent and graciousness (as opposed to arrogance) can be. Just check out the "about" section from his website for a perfect example:

"I'm a french illustrator, currently living in Le Mans, France. Before becoming an illustrator, i was, by turns : an astrophysician, an international snooker player, a hypnotist and an esperanto teacher. I hope i can someday have enough free time to devote myself to my real passion : time travel."

Inspiring Compositions from Patrick Winfield

Patrick Winfield is a graphic designer and a very talented artist that creates compositions putting together single pieces of Polaroid integral film. Patrick, who works as a graphic designer, started off creating collage and eventually started photographing the pieces on polaroid film. While experimenting with working polaroids into grids and composites, he ended up building more and more layers of his film collage.

Patrick Winfield creates his large-scale grid composites from single pieces of Polaroid integral film. The visual language deals with figure studies, landscapes, still life and a fusion of all three that combines straight photography with photogram (camera-less) techniques. Keeping the structure of the grid allows the work to remain anchored and fixed while letting the piece as a whole move the viewer's eye in multiple directions. The representational composite pieces, such as the landscapes and figures, are studies on perspectives. Instead of being fixed, static or standing, it is a walking perspective. Not an instant view, but a clustering of memories and visuals.

Using Integral films; it is about the flow of working with images as soon as they are created. Patrick equates the process to drawing. "When a photo comes out of the camera I can see if I want to adjust it or take another shot almost instantly. I can decide to continue with the current line or create another direction to the piece altogether. The immediacy and characteristics of the Polaroid film is so unique and appears to be infused with a sense of nostalgia that is so seductive."

Patrick's pieces are very inspiring and eye catching! The mix of colors and forms he uses in each piece is just great, the compositions give us a nice felling... for sure you will also like it. And don't forget to visit his website and his flickr for more information and images. Enjoy. :)

55 Crafty Scrapbook Pages

Today I wanted to shift to the other side of the design spectrum for a change and show you something a little different: arts & crafts, or more specifically, scrapbooking. There's so much room for creativity in scrapbooks because it's simply for you. You don't have to worry about the needs of the client or audience, you're completely free to experiment to your hearts content. It's an opportunity to let your personality shine through and, not to mention, an excellent way to remember the good times in your life. And we all need a little reminiscing sometimes.

Of course not all of us have the patience, time, or money (they can get very pricey!) to make scrapbooks. But maybe if you have a weekend to dedicate to it, you should definitely try it out! Perhaps you're having a baby soon or it's your anniversary with your girlfriend/boyfriend/wife/husband, there's no doubt that they'll be touched with your act and your children will look back in a few years and thank you for keeping beautiful memories of their childhood!

Crazy Cool Collage Works by Michele Senesi

Over a year ago we had a nice post featuring some collage works that were pretty sick. After that, we didn't have much more of those here in Abduzeedo, but we got to know the work of Michele Senesi.

Michele is an Italian designer that makes some crazy cool collage work, that I think are really refreshing, since we don't get to see much of collages out there... and my question is: do you guys know other cool collage designers?
