I really love when I find two or more thing I love in a single place. I do love illustrations, and I definitely love movies! Justin Reed mixes those two things and makes some super stylish movie illustrations.

He sure loves some classics like Dirty Harry and Hitchcock films, but it's also cool that he's done pieces for more recent ones such as The Dark Night and Kill Bill... there's also some from the 90's. Back to the Future Tribute

Next year, the greatest story ever told will be celebrating its 25th anniversary. For me, Back to the Future is the best trilogy that there is, flawless or not, and since I was presented with the dvd set, I watched the full trilogy at once, and that was one great experience.

I was so excited about it that I started looking for all things Back to the Future over the internet, and found a bunch of things, from posters to screen caps, and memorabilia, and other cool stuff. Since it is a 80's movie, it totally has to do with Abduzeedo's source of inspiration: the 80's culture. Take as an example the hover board and its bright colors: pink, lime, yellow, with its diagonal lines and patterns. There could be a wallpaper out of it. Or remember the 2015 Nike worn by Marty McFly... who doesn't love its futuristic design? Who? :p

That said, the most natural thing to do was to pay tribute to these fantastic films, and share if you guys some awesome findings. All I hope is that the future generations get to know this trilogy, and join the legion of fans worldwide. Also, we'd love to know how do you like the trilogy. What do you like about it the most? The Greatest Illustrations in History by Master Drew Struzan

If you are 20 years old or older, you've probably watched movies like Raiders of the Lost Ark (Indiana Jones - 1981), Back to the Future (1985), Batteries Not Included (1987), Big Trouble in Little China (1986), Coming to America (1988) and Angels in the Outfield (1994), among many, many others, you got to know the work of the man who did the posters for these films.

With an unmistakable style, Drew Struzan was born in 1947, and is world famous for not only his work for these 80's films, but also with much recent ones, like the Harry Potter series, Star Wars (both original and new ones), Hellboy and more. I've always loved his work, but never knew that all those posters were done by the same person, until I found his portfolio some time ago. I was stunned, and just had to share this illustration master's work with you.

I deeply recommend you guys, younger than 20, to get these films if you haven't watched, and just have a little time of true amusement. Also, you should really visit Mr. Drew Struzan's portfolio for a great quantity of marvelous works, with the possibility to buy his original pieces. And I won't say that I hope you enjoy these, because there's no way you don't love it. Cheers! ;)

10 Years of The Matrix

10 years ago a true revolution began. With the release of the first installment of The Matrix franchise, the movies industry was not the same anymore. To celebrate it, we've got some awesome pictures and clips to show you. Bring it on!

Bullet time and slow motion kung fu fight scenes drew a new line on how movies were made back then. I remember with awe how stunned I was the first time I watch The Matrix in a movie theater... and even after having watched it so many time, it still facinates me. The Wachowski brothers are THE MEN. I really hope there's a 10th Anniversary commemorative DVD on its way... anyways, here my selection of pictures, to celebrate the 10 Years of The Matrix.

Interview with Digital Artist Keith Garrison

Keith Garrison doesn't like to call himself a graphic artist because he doesn't do logo's and package design. He prefers the expression digital artist. And that's what he is. Very young, very talented and very interesting. In his artworks he mixes Cinema 4D objects with a lot of use of Photoshop

1. First of all we would like to thank you for taking the time to provide abduzeedo.com with this interview. Please tell us more about your art and design background and what made you become an artist and designer?

Thanks For the Opportunity. I've always had a heavy interest in Art and Design. When I was a Child I use to only hang with other children that could draw and make little comic books in my free time. My father was a Computer Technician, so I guess that's where I got my love of computers from. Being that at the time I was really into video games, I eventually found a site called Gamerenders.com . Gamerenders really was my first major exposure to Digital Art, which at the time, was something I never heard/dreamed of. After a while at Gamerenders, I stopped with the tutorials and moved to experimenting on my own. The fact that it never got boring, that there is always some new idea or concept to develop or that I'm only limited my will and imagination is what really made me keep with it to this day. Later this year I will be attending The College For Creative Studies as a freshmen to major in Advertising Design.

2. Your work is pretty unique and full of creativity. Where does your inspiration come from?

Ha! Where doesn't it come from? The thing about inspiration is that it's not limited. It can come from anywhere or anything. I have had times when simple things said to me have sparked endless ideas and concepts. For me, my main source of inspiration derives from movies. Doesn't matter, old or new, movies always seem to spark the idea for something. For me it always seems to trigger a new thought or emotion. Movies can be really expressive so it only makes sense that they go hand and hand with art. Whenever I'm starting a new project it always helps for me to watch a new movie. It's become so bad I can't really start working until I have done so.

3. Could you describe for us your typical 'start to finish' workflow when working on a design?

After a movie or two, I crank up some tunes and open up Photoshop, Firefox, and my pictures. I know some designers prefer that you sketch your ideas first then open up photoshop but this doesn't always work for me. Instead I 'Sketch' in photoshop. Finding pictures, mixing and matching until I get a general idea of what I'm going for. Then I show it to a couple of friends for opinions. I rework it a bit then go over over the things I like and dislike about it, writing everything down.Then I tend to just leave it alone for a while. After a couple of days [Sometimes, after a couple of hours] I come back to the 'Sketch' and work on it [ While going over my notes] until I produce a near final version. When I'm finaly satisfied with it, it turns int a mater of proper color adjustments and it becomes 'finished'. ready for feedback and critique by others.

4. What are your tools of the trade, both hardware and software?

I'm a PC guy. =)
I really only use Photoshop CS4 and Cinema 4D.
400GBs HD space. AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Processor with 3G DDR2 Ram
19" Widescreen Hi-Def Monitor
Nothing too amazing but it gets the Job done.

5. What, for you personally are the pros and cons of being a designer?

For me the Pros of being a designer, is that you are given a major role in creating the world around you. Art influences other Artist and that Artist influence new kinds of art so the cycle never ends. And to just be apart of that whole cycle is a wonder in itself. A major con of being a designer is the lack of sleep. It's very easy to fall into the trap of sleeping only three hours a day which can have some serious negative effects on other things for you.

6. How does your job as an artist and designer influence your life? Do you feel that you see things around you differently for example?

I most defiantly feel as if I see things differently. I tend to pay more attention to details than others and look at things from the background to the foreground rather than the opposite. I have also had plenty of times where I have stared at a billboard or poster and thought to myself how it could be replicated in Photoshop, entering a 'trance' of sorts.

7. What are your coming projects?

I try to always keep myself with something to do. I'm currently looking to explore new forms of design. I'm working with a musician and good Friend of mines Zebra Stripes for the packaging of his upcoming EP. Package design is fun and exciting for me because it gives me more of a chance to be hands on and involved with the freedom I'm given. I have also have been working more and more with 3D elements and I'm looking to take my passion for movies a step further by producing a short animated series by the end of the year. I have also gathered about 18-20 artists from Behance for a collaboration of sorts. We are currently still in the early stages of this 'experiment' so there isn't much more I can say about it other than I'm working with some very talented artist and we're all really excited about it.

8. What are your favourite 5 websites, and why?

Google.com - One of the most powerful tools in my Arsenal .
Digg.com - It's always great to know what's going on in the world and to just take a break every now and then.
Behance.net- I believe Behance is the best site out there for Creatives.
Flickr.com/understandme - A great photographer and friend of mine. I frequently look at his work for inspiration.
Noupe.com - Pretty cool blog with plenty of inspiration and tutorials floating around.

9. Once again , thank you very much for the interview. As a final word, do you have any tips for upcoming artists and designers?

Thanks for having me. As for advice, keep yourself busy. Don't have a project to work on ? Make one up. Give yourself challenges and goals. I've set a goal to do the minimum of 4 projects a month. Then after two months I shall double it, then double it again. Keeping yourself busy not only keeps you reaching a Creative Block but it also keeps you artistically in shape. It keeps the ideas flowing. I'm not saying you have to produce a magnum opus each time but there have been plenty times when I have came across random unfinished projects that have elements or achieve a look that I need for a current project. You will not only be surprised at how quickly you grow as an artist but also at how fast you develop works for your portfolio. Also don't limit yourself. If you're a traditional artist don't be afraid to try 3D modeling or if you're a 3D modeler give illustrator a shot. This will keep you flexible, help you discover new looks and may help you develop a certain kind of style. It will also keep your portfolio very diverse.

Hand Drawn Movie Posters

A strong trend for movie posters we've seen in the last months is hand drawn posters. Mostly used for indie movies, it's a really fresh kind of design, and I'm really loving it.

Some of the greatest movies I've seen in the past 6 months had hand drawn posters and were indie... so I'll guess the I'm probably a sucker for that kinda movie anyways. Here is a little list of some of these great posters, most of them found at the Internet Movie Poster Awards.

Batman Movies Posters

Today is the grand opening of The Dark Knight, and we are all really excited! How much butt will this movie kick? A LOT. And to celebrate its opening, we're making a collection of all Batman Movies Posters (or just the best ones, as you wish).

We had several Batman movies already, in which Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer and George Clooney played the Dark Knight. Keaton and Kilmer, in my opinion were really good, and even though Clooney is one hell of an actor, he was a lousy Batman. But I guess eveyone will agree when I say that Bale is the right man for the job, right? We've seen him playing the Batman we were all waiting for.

Anyways, talking about posters, some are really terrible, like the one with Tommy Lee Jones as the Two-Face. I mean, seriously? We can totally see the evolution of graphic design here, where the two last films have really stunning posters, not reaveling too much, not being too corky or cheesy like Batman & Robin's posters. Well, just check them out! And long live Bale as the Batman. All these great posters were found at the best movie poster site out there: Movie Poster Awards. Every single movie poster we might ever want. ;)

First International Trailer for Max Payne

It's been some time since I got this hyped in a morning. During my regular visits to First Showing (a must visit for all movie freaks), I ran into something I wasn't expecting: the 1st friggin' international trailer for the Max Payne movie.

And I know the preview picture isn't from the movie, but from the game, but it's totally cool. I don't know if you guys realize who big this is. For those who were out to Venus for the past 8 years, Max Payne is a video game character, from a game called, uhn, Max Payne. It was out in 2001, and was absolutily STUNNING... It had the bullet time from Matrix, and still 2 years later, when the Enter the Matrix game was released, it wasn't as good as the original Max Payne. Max Payne is everything we expected ETM to be, and wasn't. And now, I also got to know that they are about to release friggin' Max Payne 3 for PC. Geeeez!!! Alright, I'm REALLY hyped. LOL. About the movie, Mark Wahlberg is playing our hero, and the trailer looks awesome. Well, check out the trailer already...

Another thing I didn't know is that there were some other Max Payne movies release in Poland! I so wanna see those... unfortunately, there aren't any torrent files online... or at least I didn't find any. You can see below these other movies posters. Again, these are not the new movie posters.

If you're not familiar with the Max Payne feel, I must say it reminds a lot Sin City comics... something noir, and still got all that bullet time kicking ass sweetness, pretty much as a Matrix movie. I must insist, if you've never played any of Max Payne's games before, YOU MUST PLAY THEM. It's totally awesome. :]

Amazing WALL*E Retro Posters

3 days left to WALL*E starting hitting the silver screen and we are all totally hyped with all the tv spots, teaser trailers, trailers, posters and everything about it. And now, one more thing to enjoy: retro posters!

And if you were in a desert island for the past year, here's the plot: "What if mankind had to leave Earth, and somebody forgot to turn the last robot off? After hundreds of lonely years of doing what he was built for, WALL*E (short for Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class) discovers a new purpose in life (besides collecting knick-knacks) when he meets a sleek search robot named EVE. EVE comes to realize that WALL*E has inadvertently stumbled upon the key to the planet's future, and races back to space to report her findings to the humans (who have been eagerly awaiting word that it is safe to return home). Meanwhile, WALL*E chases EVE across the galaxy and sets an adventure into motion. Joining WALL*E on his journey across the universe is a cast of characters including a pet cockroach and a heroic team of malfunctioning misfit robots."

WALL*E arrives cinemas everywhere June 27th.

Cool Science Fiction Posters

Science Fiction movies are really awesome, even though, many people don't enjoy that kind of movie. But, one thing those people couldn't deny is the fact that Sci-Fi movie posters are pretty awesome, different from most of the regular movies... like drama, and others.

I've found this awesome site called "Scifi-Movies" (really clever, huh?) that has tons of posters, from movies I didn't even know that exist. Here are a few (only beginning with the letter 'A', just to measure how many posters there are) from the site. Hope you like it.
