The other day, browsing through Flickr, I stumbled upon the photostream of Junkyard Dogs. While all the work isn't credited to be his, he does have a really nice collection of all things vintage and retro-futuristic; old computer ads, movie posters, book covers, etc. Pure gold.

Amazing Retro-Futuristic Space Collection

Ever since I was a kid I've had this fascination for space. I remember growing up watching Star Trek episodes with my dad on those lazy Sunday afternoons. And of course not to mention all those really old so-bad-that-they're-good space movies. Oh, and Star Wars but that's a given ;)

Following my sometimes nerdy fixation for space, I went on the lookout for all things retro-futuristic and found some really nice stuff. In this collection I've included some awesome pieces by Mark Weaver (one of my favorite designers), Drew Struzan (the great), Robert McCall (really nice NASA space art gallery) and many others so be sure to check out their portfolios after!

And if you're as much of a space nerd as I am, I want to hear from you! Yes, you there.... watching your Star Trek re-runs, playing with your Chewbacca action figure, let me know I'm not alone via twitter or facebook :)

"Retro-Futuristic" Art Inspiration - Part 2

10 months ago, a little after I started posting here on Abduzeedo, I've posted an awesome article on Retro-Futuristic art, which was realy awesome back in the day, when I was a kid. Today, we once more got some sweet art for you.

The art we've featured was taken from a book called "The Usborne Book of the Future". Today's art was found in a great site dedicated to the subject, called "Paleo-Future", pretty clever name by the way. Most of us had those books that told us how the future would be. It was pretty neat and funny because most of those predictions didn't come true. Today, it's a great source of inpiration.

The Usborne Book of the Future was first published in 1979 by Usborne Books, and written by Kenneth Gatland and David Jefferis. A trip in time to the year 2000 and beyond. See the robots, machines and cities of the future, and then travel to the stars. To check more pages of it, click here.
